DW official merchandise and Rose Tyler

Is there, does anybody know, a particular reason why the official DW merchandise would seemingly prefer on the whole not to acknowledge either the existence of Rose Tyler, or any effect her character might have had on the Doctor?

I've heard (although with no confirmation) that Billie got kinda freaked out by the little figs and that's why we've not seen any more Rose figures (and are not likely to in the future).

I'm not sure to what else you might be referring.

I've also heard what Prin said, above.

And things like photos in books may be licensing of her image or something like that - I haven't got a clue what the rules are but they might be expected to pay her royalties (RTD and DT joked about it in the Utopia commentary when she had her 3 second cameo but it seemed as though there might be something serious under their joking).

I've seen a Rose 5" figure for sale on Amazon as part of a set with K-9. They want £30 for the two!! It is, according to one reviewer, a startlingly life-like figure.
Alas, that's the only example I've been able to find, and I've been looking since March (my Doctor is very lonely in his TARDIS), although I'm sure there used to be others available.

When it comes to the figurines, no companion or side characters really gets more than one or two at the most. And they only get two if there is a major costume shift, such as the two versions of Jack. I've heard the rumors about Billie Piper being freaked out by the figures, but that's not really under her control. Part of taking a role on something like Doctor Who means signing away license rights.

Also, a lot of the merchandising is going to be based on the current series, etc. etc. etc. There is quite a lot of Rose out there in the DWMs, posters, etc.

But remember, this is a family show. The merchandising will always be Doctor-driven, and no companion will ever out-sell the big guy. These are things that have to sell, and most 5 year old boys aren't interest in playing with a Rose dollie, they want to have the Doctor and the Master fight it out. So, in turn, they produce what will sell.

I "googled" different sites that sell Doctor Who merchandise, and settled on 3 or 4 good ones, from whom I've ordered figures. I did get a 5" Rose, but they're hard to find now. Wanted a 12" one, but the nice man at SolidStrike (through Amazon.co.uk) answered my request by saying that Billie Piper didn't want any more figures made of her. Too bad; I'd love a 12" one!

Whona.com still has Rose figures. They were released for the US market.
