Oh ... ouch. I read it first with 'Doomsday' in mind, and that was heartbreaking enough, but now on second reading from a 'Journey's End' perspective it hurts even more and, yes, it does seem to fit better as post-Season Four :(
I'm not 'at peace' with JE so much as 'accepting' - I accept that it's happened that way and that I can't change it, and therefore I look to make the best of it, and am happy for Rose and her version of the Doctor and hope that it works out well for them. My heart still aches for our lonely Doctor, though, and I don't believe he will ever get over losing Rose again, even if it was his decision.
