Several things about the Tenth Doctor, Ten II and the latter’s way of relating to Rose post-Journey’s End have been bugging me just lately. I’ll talk about the main one here.
Saw this on exceptindreams today (great journal if you like poetry, by the way – that’s where most of the poems I put up (the ones that talk to me of Doctor/Rose in all its variants) come from), and wondered whether folk agreed with me that this pretty much describes what a Rose in love with Ten (or Nine, take your pick) might be thinking.
(In fact ... this might even be what Ten II was thinking about Rose, if you subscribe to that particular ship. For me, this works best as Rose on Ten, but that’s just IMHO.)
I Want to Breathe
James Laughlin
you in I’m not talking about
perfume or even the sweet odour
of your skin but of the
air itself I want to share
your air inhaling what you
exhale I'd like to be that
close two of us breathing
each other as one as that
I am confused.
Sep. 21st, 2008 02:46 pmI get, to a certain extent, why Doctor/Rose fandom is all over Ten II right now. He’s new, and shiny, and the possibilities are practically endless. I don’t have a problem with that. It’s very much not my ship, for various reasons, but I’m dealing.
So now we have Ten II/Rose which is really popular, and Nine/Rose which is also very popular. Both of these things are fine.
What I’m confused about mainly, and what is making Doctor/Rose fandom hard for me right now, is why nobody seems to be giving Ten (or Ten/Rose, from what I’ve seen lately) much love any more.
Without Ten there would be no Ten II, so why no Ten love?

Character(s): Ten. Rose. Mention of Ten II.
Pairing: Ten/Rose
Rating: 12
A/N: This was originally a first-person Rose POV piece examining how she might have felt during and just after the events of Journey’s End, but I thought it worked better as a third-person narrative. Hopefully I wasn’t wrong. The title, and the quotes at the beginning and end of the fic, are from Rhapsody on a Windy Night by T. S. Eliot.
Disclaimer: Not mine
Spoilers: Journey’s End.
Summary: She’d said she’d never leave him.
Character(s), in order of appearance: Ten. Mention throughout of Rose.
Pairing: Ten/Rose
Rating: 12
A/N: Coming to terms with this is more difficult than I’d expected ... hence these drabble!fics. This particular one comes from seeing a parallel between Ten’s behaviour on the beach in Journey’s End and his treatment of Harriet Jones in The Christmas Invasion.
Disclaimer: Not mine
Spoilers: Journey’s End; I’ve borrowed language and themes also from The Christmas Invasion.
Summary: Six words.
( Just six. )
