I’m not sure he can live with it, either; although having said that I am convinced that the Wolf will bring her back to him (or him to her; I don’t much care which!), and I’ve had deep suspicions of how much Rose is (or, rather isn’t ageing for quite some time.
For now, though, I’m settling into AU territory for the long-haul because that ending was so hideous I don’t want any part of it.
