“Her name was Rose.” (Ten/Rose, G, drabble)

Title: “Her name was Rose.”
Characters: Donna Noble, The Doctor
Rating: G
Setting: The Runaway Bride
Dedication: For [livejournal.com profile] glory_jean, because she liked it.
Summary: Donna Noble, with her uncanny knack of asking the right question at just the right time.

“Your friend. What was her name?”

He’d almost made it. Had almost managed to hold on long enough to get back into the Vortex, a place where he could finally give voice to his grief, and rage, and pain.

But no.

Donna Noble, with her uncanny knack of asking the right question at exactly the right moment, had put the kibosh on that. Maybe that was a good thing; maybe if he let the emotions came to the surface now he could manage to keep some control over them; of himself.

Or not.

“Her name was Rose.”

Once again you capture the Doctor's thoughts and feelings with heart-wrenchingly observant eloquence. This brief but beautiful piece mirrors his words and expression absolutely perfectly, and makes that innocuous little sentence all the more heartbreaking.

*sniff*

Wow. Short, but brilliantly done.

Heartbreaking, but beautiful.

Ouch. I like that way of looking at that scene: he's one minute away from taking the TARDIS out of reality and letting go. Who knows if he'd ever come back to Earth? He didn't seem to have been too keen on carrying on in the timeline where he never met Donna. But he did meet her, and she snags him, makes him say it while he isn't alone.

That was beautiful. And heartbreaking, because it is so true. Every time I watch the end of "Runaway Bride," that little wobble in his voice at the end just guts me.

Amazing work! I love this! And I love the Donna/Doctor friendship too.

Wonderful portrayal of Ten.

Perfect use of succinctness: "Or not." It made a good contrast to the paragraph before.

Very nice!

Heartbreaking!

You've really captured the Doctor's emotion! x

*wibbles* That line. Kills me every time. Beautiful thought process here.

That's so well written and captures the Doctor so well.

And you just know that he was crying by the time the TARDIS dematerialized. :(
