A/N: A Doomsday piece this time, for a change of pace; still a tad on the angsty side though.
Spoilers: If Doomsday’s still a spoiler!
Summary: Why did he do it? Why?
He’d sent her away. He hadn’t wanted to, had very much hated even the idea of it, but there had been no choice. It wasn’t because he didn’t love her, either. If anything, he loved her too much. Loved her to distraction, in fact, and had done for a very long time.
That the two of them were physically involved was proof enough of that, in his opinion – and in all his long life he’d never been physically intimate with someone he was not in love with, that just wasn’t him.
No.
Lack of love for her had had no bearing on his decision to send Rose with her mother into that parallel world. He knew she’d find it difficult to understand, but it had been all about love. He loved her enough to keep her safe, it was as simple as that.
He supposed that some might think his actions were a kind of test – sending her away from him to see if she’d come back did smack of that, he admitted, but he hadn’t thought of it that way. He hadn’t thought about it at all, really; panic had overtook him and all he could think of was to find a way to keep her safe.
He couldn’t let anything happen to her.
He couldn’t.

I take it's supposed to be after he looped the dimension jumper on her, before she came back to him?
Round about then, aye. You could argue that this (http://doctorwho.time-and-space.co.uk/coppermine/displayimage.php?pos=-30050) picture is exactly when it’s set.

If people had been more level-headed, neither Jackie nor Rose would've ended up in the PW in the first place.

Can’t speak for alt!Pete, but I reckon the Carlisle Co-Operative had it about right when they had Donna say that the Doctor loves Rose so much that he can’t be rational about her. And look where that has got him.
*sighs*

Lovely.
Thank you!
And so sad.
I know ... this nearly was another Journey’s End piece, but it seemed to fit Doomsday better in a weird sort of way.

I've always believed that he did that out of love, nothing more.
That, and a desperate need to keep her safe. Bless him, poor man.
(PS: What do you reckon to my nice shiny new friends only banner (http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii91/rjrog77_tenthedoctor/000798f9.png)? Made by
dave7, it’s flaming brilliant, as far as I’m concerned.)

I love the FO banner .... based on
dave7's header, no? Bloody gorgeous!
Yeah, ’tis.
dave7 said he made the two to match.
I’m kinda nailing my colours to the mast on this one ;)

I'm glad she came back, though, even if she was torn away again.
So am I, most of the time at least.
He deserved to know he was worth fighting for.
He still does deserve it; he just doesn’t believe he does any more. Which just about breaks my heart :(
