Although the TARDIS swings through summer skies
On planets that no human eyes have seen,
And though it’s both through time and space she flies
For ever bound to seek a change of scene
As if in some macabre, twisted game,
That isn’t all she is. It couldn’t be.
Without her pilot, she’d not be the same –
This truth extends both ways. For it is he
To whom it falls the choice of planet face
To land on, and thus which to leave bereft;
There is but him. The last man of his race,
And of his planet there is nothing left.
Pity her pilot, for he is in pain;
