Mixed Messages

Title: Mixed Messages
Character(s): Ten
Pairing(s): Ten/Rose(ish)
Rating: G
Setting: After Girl in the Fireplace
A/N: Unbeta-ed, so any (and all) mistakes are mine. 100 words in Open Office.
Summary: After the Reinette incident, the Doctor reflects on his relationship with Rose.

So, after telling Rose she can 'spend the rest of her life' with you, that you'll 'never leave her behind', what do you do?

You panic completely about what you've just said, lose your head and run away (metaphorically at least), trying to put distance between you and the feelings you have for this strangely beguiling girl which are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

She is more important, already, to you than she ought to be; you need to put space between you, now, before she's so utterly necessary that you will do, say or change anything to keep her.

That's a realistically panicked, commitment-phobic Time Lord alright. XD

Yup, that's what I thought. Still trying to find reasons (excuses?) for his behaviour in The Girl in the Fireplace, and this is the best I can come up with so far ...

You'd be better off giving him a slap up the head and a threat to tell Rose what he feels for her or else you will ;)

Aww. That is so the Doctor right there. Of course he'd get a bit panicky after admitting something something like that.

Great job. :)

Ah, but he doesn't quite admit it, does he?
