Summary: Parting is all we know of heaven, / And all we need of hell.
When parting’s all he can know of heaven,
And likewise all he’ll ever need of hell,
Maybe, someday, he can be forgiven –
For Chaos knows he doesn’t do it well!
He has companions. But they all depart,
For many reasons (not all of them the best),
’Tis their leaving, one by one, breaks his hearts;
He holds them in his mind: his sometime guests.
He tries his best. There’s none could ask for more.
(OK, there’s one or two – he’ll grant you that.
But he’s no super-hero. He has flaws.
Sometimes even his best still comes out flat!)
He’s meant to be alone. With many friends –
But everyone still leaves him, in the end.

Date: 2008-12-28 06:34 pm (UTC)I told LJ to display my "Discontent" Doctor/Rose icon, and it's displaying that red and white anime one that I've never seen before in my life. At least, for me it is.
OK, that’s officially weird. I’m looking at the icon in question, and I’m definitely seeing the “Discontent” one ...

Date: 2008-12-28 06:47 pm (UTC)Don't know why the Livejournal gods decided I needed a new icon, though. o_O Maybe they found mine too depressing?

Date: 2008-12-28 09:53 am (UTC)Innit though? It's like Chaos and Order as warring constants in those old Mike Moorcock pulps, with entropy winding down the universe like a stumbling toy soldier. Would the Time Lords have had gods, or fundamental forces with faces and silly hats?

It’s an interesting conundrum, isn’t it?

Date: 2008-12-28 01:24 pm (UTC)Interesting use of chaos as a deity figure.
I get the feeling sometimes that if he were to believe in a deity of any kind (other than the Rose of The Satan Pit, obviously), then Chaos would be it.
I'm thrown off because it rhymes sometimes and doesn't other times.
Rhymes and half-rhymes, I suppose. It scans in my head, which I guess is all that really matters.

Date: 2008-12-28 01:30 pm (UTC)Oh, poor Doctor.
*Nods*
I’ve been trying to make this into something of how the Special affected me, along with a reading of how angsty the Doctor was feeling in it, if that makes sense?
Rhyme works really well for that kind of bleakness.
Thank you, I thought so as well.

I wrote this to get the thought-images out of my head, mainly – that, and as a reaction post of sorts.
