“Rose is coming back. Whatever else is happening, isn’t that good?”
When he hadn’t answered immediately, she wasn’t sure he’d actually heard her. And when he’d looked up, the expression on his face suggested that his mind was with her. Then he’d looked at her properly, with something glistening in his eyes that looked suspiciously like tears, and smiled.
“Yeah.”
She was so pleased to see something going right for him for once, seeing him happy – truly happy – again, that she promised herself she’d do whatever ended up necessary to keep things that way.
Whatever it took, she’d do it.

Date: 2008-05-28 06:31 pm (UTC)That sounds so ominous.
I know. But also quintessentially Donna.
I hope it doesn't come to that.
So do I, but I don’t trust RTD & co. as far as I can throw them.

Date: 2008-05-28 06:57 pm (UTC)I so love that Donna's a shipper.
Me, too. That makes me smile every time I think of it.
You really got across her devotion for the Doctor, and her deep, inner tough brave side (even moreso than she already is, I mean, hehe).
That’s what I was going for; glad to see it worked!

Oh no you don’t. Talking spoilers in here will get you banned, so don’t even think about it.

Date: 2008-05-28 07:01 pm (UTC)I loved that little clip - and this drabble.
Thank you! :)
I'm in complete denial about some of the spoilers I've read.
You should try giving the spoilers a rest, that way is easier on the heart! I don’t know a thing about the next episodes other than what I’ve seen in the trailers, and although I suspect that the finale will break my heart I don’t know how. It makes it more fun not knowing everything in advance, as well.

Thank you!
I just love that smile on the Doctor's face when he says "Yeah"
That smile is the single best thing on that trailer, frankly.

Oh, absolutely!

That icon rocks (and Donna so does ship ’em. Mind you, would have to be blind not to ;D)

Date: 2008-05-28 07:11 pm (UTC)I love this drabble, especially this; “She was so pleased to see something going right for him for once.”
It’s been a long time since something’s gone his way, I’d say, so she’s right to be so happy about it.
Glad you like!

And really Donna.

You've hit the nail on the head there; I haven't seen that genuine smile for a couple series!

Thank you!

And it puts the ‘smiles’ that poor Martha received into context. More a manic grin from someone desperately trying to deny anything’s wrong than a proper smile there, poor man. I pity both of them in Season Three, I really do.

If she has the sense she was born with? Platonic love. Brother-and-sister kind, perhaps.
*glomps* Brilliant as usual.
Thank you :D

Date: 2008-05-29 07:00 pm (UTC)I only say this because things look to be going straight to Hades in a handcart later in the preview, and I doubt even Donna would be cajoling glee from the Doctor in that event.
I love that Donna appreciates and understands the emotional impact of the crap that the Doctor goes through. Like the Doctor's description of Agatha Christie, Donna has lived and suffered through heartbreak and seen the evil that men do...

Date: 2008-05-29 09:02 pm (UTC)I kinda wonder if maybe that particular clip is from the end of the Episode 8-9 two-parter... like they found something in this obviously in-the-future library that indicates she's coming back.
I like that idea. Perhaps these people in spacesuits (they looked like spacesuits, anyway) might have something to do with it, also. (And I agree with you about the hell-in-a-handbasket thing.)

Donna saw him immediately after he’d lost Rose (at possibly his lowest point since the Time War), so she’s seen a vulnerable side to him that few people ever see. That’s probably something to do with it, too.
(And the fact that he [the Doctor] saved her from Lance and the Rachnoss is a point in his favour as far as she’s concerned, too.)
And I’ve probably completely mucked this up. Oh, well. I’m reasonably sure you’ll know what I mean.
