He knows what she said, but he’s not completely sure she meant it.
He’ll test her, that’s what he’ll do; he’ll send her into that parallel universe, where she’d have her parents and everything else she’d ever wanted, and he’ll see if she comes back. He doesn’t think she will. It’ll be hard, for him to forget her, but he’ll manage.
“Doctor?”
He spins 'round to look at her, struck dumb momentarily with disbelieving joy.
“I made my choice a long time ago, and I’m never gonna leave you.”
She’d come back. Maybe he could believe “for ever”, after all?
