Title: Anything
Rating: PG
Character(s): Ten. Mentions of Rose, Astrid, and various others.
Pairing: Implied Ten/Rose
Spoiler(s): Voyage of the Damned, general Season Two/Three
Disclaimer: Borrowing, sans permission, what's not mine.
Summary: He's the Doctor. If he can't do it ...

I’m the Doctor. (I can do anything.)

I can save the universe from Daleks. Win the Time War. (And lose everything, everyone, I’ve ever known: Romana. Susan. Leela ... So very many.)

Couldn’t save Rose.

I can save the Earth, my home now Gallifrey’s gone, beyond the reckoning of it. From the Racnoss, Carrionites and the Master.

From Daleks, over and over, and Cybermen. (And lose the woman I adore.)

I can’t save the woman (so like Rose) turned to stardust. I couldn’t stop them, either of them, from falling.

But I can bring them back.

I can do anything.

Very powerful and touching. It's very much what I'd imagine the Doctor thinking, especially during VOTD.

Very powerful and touching.

Thank you!

It's very much what I'd imagine the Doctor thinking, especially during VOTD.

Me, too. I heard him say (or, more accurately, shout) "I can do anything" during Voyage of the Damned and thought nothing of it, but then thought about it again today and wondered if there's something about that spoiler in S4 we don't know about.

This captures the Doctor's internal monologue perfectly during Voyage of the Damned. Well done :-)

This captures the Doctor's internal monologue perfectly during Voyage of the Damned.

He was so determined that he was going to get them all out, wasn't he? And then he loses almost all of them.

Well done :-)

Thanks!

That was beautiful. The last line had a touch of darkness about it, which I liked very much. Excellent!

I don't think we're even close to seeing the end of dark!Ten; I'm not sure whether or not I'm happy about that, either.

Excellent!

Thanks!

The prospects of what that last line could mean are spine-chilling. I do hope they explore that more next season.

Great little ficlet.

They are somewhat, aren't they? Very "Lonely God", though, which I'm not so sure I like.

I do hope they explore that more next season.

So do I, but not at the expense of having the Doctor still swallowed by the darkness as he was in Season Three ...

Great little ficlet.

Thanks!
