The Doctor on Rose (or Rose on the Doctor), or even maybe Ten II about Rose.

Saw this on [livejournal.com profile] exceptindreams today (great journal if you like poetry, by the way – that’s where most of the poems I put up (the ones that talk to me of Doctor/Rose in all its variants) come from), and wondered whether folk agreed with me that this pretty much describes what a Rose in love with Ten (or Nine, take your pick) might be thinking.

(In fact ... this might even be what Ten II was thinking about Rose, if you subscribe to that particular ship. For me, this works best as Rose on Ten, but that’s just IMHO.)

I Want to Breathe
James Laughlin

you in I’m not talking about
perfume or even the sweet odour

of your skin but of the
air itself I want to share

your air inhaling what you
exhale I'd like to be that

close two of us breathing
each other as one as that

That's love, that is. I see that in Rose and in the Doctor (in all his recent incarnations), when they look at each other.

The structure of this poem hurts my eyes. The second reading made more sense, after I got rid of the "you in" at the beginning. But when I did that, yes, absolutely, this makes sense as Rose falling hard for Ten. :)

And now I get that the "you in" goes after the TITLE. Dear lord, I'm so bad at poetry.

This meshes particularly well with Rose's rather obvious smelling of Ten when they hugged after his partially-avoided regeneration.
