Title: Incroyable
Character(s): Mickey. Ten and Rose mentioned throughout
Pairing(s): Ten/Rose
Rating: PG
Beta: This is unbeta-ed. Any and all mistakes, therefore, are mine.
Setting: Immediately after Girl in the Fireplace
Spoilers: Girl in the Fireplace, if you've not seen it yet
Disclaimer: Borrowed, sans permission.
A/N: The title is French, and translates as "unbelievable" or "incredible"; I thought it fit the tone of the piece well.
Summary: He can't believe Rose is still refusing to leave the Doctor.

You can't believe it. You've had your suspicions for a while that Rose might just have taken leave of her senses, but to your mind this pretty much confirms it.

The Doctor left you both, without so much as a by-your-leave, on a deserted alien ship (you conveniently choose not to remember that the TARDIS isn't exactly of human design). And what for? To jump through a one-way "magic door", on horseback, to save his bit of eighteenth-century skirt from some robots in fancy dress with ideas above their station.

That's not great, but you can handle it.

(It isn't the first time you've seen the Doctor do something completely and utterly stupid and come off scot-free. You somehow doubt it's going to be the last. Although you feel terrible for Rose; it doesn't take an idiot to see what that man is to her and the fact that he just left her behind isn't sitting well with her at all.)

But you can't get your head around this:

Five-and-a-half hours you'd waited, in the end, not knowing if or when you'd ever see the planet you were born on again.

He essentially left you facing a (rather unconventional) death sentence (you remember, from Christmas with the Sycorax, how Rose no longer remembers how to fly the TARDIS; without his ship, how was the Doctor supposed to get back?)

She'd told you how he'd promised not to leave her behind. And yet, first chance he got, that's exactly what he did. If that had been you, you'd have asked to be dropped back home and cheerfully left the bastard catch what was most certainly coming for him.

But not Rose. Even after this, so soon after all that business with Sarah Jane Smith, she point-blank refuses to leave him.

And you can't, for the life of you, figure out why.

I love it! Planted an evil bunny for more Mickeyfic though. Poor Mickey just doesn't get it. Or gets it, and doesn't wanna get it.
Well done!

Especially: to save his bit of eighteenth-century skirt from some robots in fancy dress with ideas above their station.

I think it's the second of the two. He can be slow on the uptake occasionally (bit like me, that), but he's no idiot.

Especially: to save his bit of eighteenth-century skirt from some robots in fancy dress with ideas above their station.

That's one of my very favourite bits, so I'm glad you like it! :)

Oh, what a great little foray into the brain of Mickey. Poor sap. He just doesn't get it. :(

Oh he gets it, all right; he just wishes he didn't.

Poor Mickey. You've captured his thoughts perfectly.

Poor Mickey, indeed ... he got a bum deal out of it before he decided to stay in the alt!universe, didn't he?

Lol, this is Mickey in canon and, I think, in my fic. No earthly clue why things work out the way they do and very frustrated by it. Very good job capturing that!

The poor bugger just wants things to be the way they used to be before the Doctor showed up, doesn't he?

I've much love for poor Mickey.

He gets it, all right; he gets it very well indeed. He just wishes for all the world that he didn't, poor love.

And also, i LOVE your journal! How did you get the background and graphics and everything?

It's one of the journals you can pick on LJ ... I think it's "magic notebook" or something similar.

This is awesome and it works because it's so understandable and real. These are the normal thoughts of a normal person.

I think Mickey sometimes gets far too much stick and so it was nice to see something good about him.

I completely agree... I adored Mickey through the first two series and he did get shafted a number of times.

Get it or not, he's the realist.

Awesome fic. Thank you for the smile. :)

More than a few, I'd say.

Get it or not, he's the realist.

He tells it how it is, does our Mickey.

Ain't they just? I know it's similar to how I'd be thinking if I were in Mickey's position.

He does, sometimes, I agree. Bless him. I'm quite fond of Mickey, oddly enough.
