I couldn’t resist Ten, in the end.

But can you blame me?
He is happy; well, I say happy – but it seems to me, on first glance at least, to be more the mania we saw in Time Crash. I wonder how much time has passed for him since Journey’s End?
Real snow at last, like in Planet of the Ood, I wonder if that’s significant? Probably not, since snow in 1851 London was far more likely to happen at Christmas than not, but who knows?
Rosita sounds very like Rose (comes from more or less the same part of London, I’m guessing) and the shout of “Doctor!” reminded me a little of Rose shouting for him in Fear Her, but that’s probably just me.
And I loved how confused Ten was by “the Doctor”.
In short, I can hardly bear to wait for Christmas!

Date: 2008-11-16 01:33 pm (UTC)I don't like "Rosita." I don't mean the character; I mean the name. It's just weird, and far too close to home. I think Moffatt (sp?) might be playing with the fans, but then again I could be wrong.
Still haven't decided if I'm actually going to watch the episode. Probably will though, because it just pulls me in *sigh*

Date: 2008-11-16 04:05 pm (UTC)I've opined elsewhere that this "next Doctor" could well be the current showrunner's commentary on what Ten (or even Eleven) could have been had the original series never been canceled -- with perhaps a bit of a dig at the excessively rigid Old Schoolers who would prefer the show not have returned with more of an emphasis on deeper characterizations and the like.
From what little we see of her in the trailer, Rosita looks and sounds like she could be an amalgam of Rose, Martha and Donna. If so, she may also serve as an ironic statement about companions in general and original series ones in particular.
We'll just have to see!
